African Black Soap Liquid 200ml (ABS)

Shea offers traditional handmade African Black Soap cooked over open fires. Our support helps small communities in Africa. Our African Black Soap is made with shea butter, cocoa butter and sustainably farmed virgin palm oil. Instead of lye for saponification, a mixture of cocoa pod ashes, plantain skins ash and shea tree bark ash are used. No harsh chemicals are used at all.

It took us more than 18 months to come up with a liquid version that was true to the bar version in every way. Once we were satisfied, we set out to improve it with the addition of anti-bacterial tea tree and neem oils to enhance it’s acne fighting capabilities. We took something very good, and made it better!

Regular use will help remove excessive body and facial oils from the skin thus helping control acne outbreaks. Very helpful for teens and those with oily skin and scalps.

Due to its excellent ability to remove thick oils, it is also very effective in removing oily make up from skin and pores. The charcoal (ashes) in African Black Soap helps neutralise body odours.  As it cleanses so well, you may want to remoisturise with a drop or two of our pure argan oil to make your skin feel soft, smooth and silky.

We are confident that this dark brown soap will become a staple in your cleansing routine.

You may notice black ash particles settling at the bottom. This is normal, and proof that the soap you have is genuine African Black Soap made the traditional way. And remember, real African Black Soap is NOT BLACK, it looks like fruit cake, liquified fruit cake in this case.

If you are new to black soap, consider using it once every few days to start. You can gradually increase its use as your skin gets used to the soap.

It is always good to do a patch test on the arm before using a product no matter how gentle it is (for example, the face). This is a standard precaution as it is possible to be allergic to any soap or cosmetic or skin care product. We are all different, and we may not know of any sensitivities we may have to certain ingredients. If your skin becomes irritated or develops a rash, discontinue use.
